If Windows shows a warning

Windows may say “Windows protected your PC”. That’s SmartScreen, and it appears because Murmur’s installer isn’t code-signed yet. To continue, choose More info, then Run anyway.

Your browser may also say the file isn’t commonly downloaded. If you’d like to check the file first, compare its SHA-256 with the value above.

After installing

  1. Murmur opens a welcome window. Choose Start 14-day trial. This step needs an internet connection.
  2. The floating note appears, with a short guide beside it. It takes a couple of minutes, and you can skip it.
  3. Double-click the note and write what you’re on.

Murmur also sits in the system tray: right-click its icon for Settings. It starts with Windows by default, and you can change that under Settings → General → Launch at login.

Updating

Murmur doesn’t update itself yet. New versions are listed in the Changelog. To update, download the latest installer and run it. Your thoughts and History stay in place.
